The recent state visit by the Spanish monarchy to China, accompanied by representatives of Spanish industry, has highlighted the explicit interest in promoting collaboration between companies from both countries, as well as cooperation in third countries of common interest (Latin America, North Africa, the Middle East). The size and growing importance of the Spanish economy make the promotion of bilateral trade even more attractive to China. The high qualifications of Spanish technicians and engineers are an added factor to increase added value and improve technological relations between both countries.
For its part, from the spring of 2025 the Chinese Ministry of Commerce has urged government agencies to implement the guidelines promulgated in 2025 to stabilize foreign investment. Furthermore, it pledged to accelerate the development of pilot zones in cloud computing, biomedical technology, wholly foreign-owned hospitals, and other services. It also committed to promoting free trade zones and national economic and technological development zones, while revising the Catalog of Industries for the Promotion of Foreign Investment to create more opportunities for foreign companies.
